Faculty Library Services

A one-stop destination for services available to faculty through Brown Library.

Library Instruction

The Brown Library is excited to provide library instruction opportunities for faculty and their classes. These can include:

  • guided instruction sessions related to research strategies and database searching
  • instruction sessions tailored to the needs of a specific research assignment
  • dedicated in-class research sessions with a librarian present if students need assistance
  • presentations on library resources and citation styles
  • online Canvas library modules
  • and more!

It is strongly encouraged that any class with a research component schedule a library session. We can visit your class or your class can visit us! If you are interested in scheduling an instruction session, fill out the form on this page or reach out to Alora Cummings, Reference & Instruction Librarian.

Instruction Request Form

Please fill out the form below to schedule a library instruction session. It is recommended you schedule your sessions at least a week in advance, but the earlier you schedule your session, the more likely you will get your preferred days.

Online Library Orientation

Often instructors want their students to be familiar with the library and its resources but are not able to set aside class time to bring their students. In addition, many distance instructors have lamented the fact that it is difficult for them to introduce the library and its resources in a meaningful way.

In response, the library developed a Library Orientation InfoGuide, an online tool that allows students to learn about the library and its resources on their own. We are also happy to create customized Canvas modules with videos, activities, quizzes, etc. if you need more than just a basic orientation.
