Evaluating Websites

College students need reliable, authoritative information!

Websites are tricky if you plan to use them for college-level work.

Consider these things before using a website as a source:

WHO created the source? An expert? An amateur?

WHAT is its purpose? Sell, inform, persuade? URLs ending in .gov & .edu are more reliable.

WHEN was the website created?

WHERE does the information come from? Are sources cited?

WHY will you use the site? Is the topic covered in-depth or superficially?
