Creative Commons

Creative Commons is a public copyright licenses that enables owners of works to distributed their otherwise copyrighted work under various free distribution rights giving other people the right to share, use, and build upon that work without having to get permission to do so. The owner of the work confers the permission by adding CC icon and various other icons or acronyms to their content. The following icon, CC, and acronyms are used in combinations to confer various rights.

As long as the author or the licensed is given credit or what is called attribution for the work, then the licensees may copied, distributed, displayed and performed the work and make what is called derivative works or  remixes of the work.

Share A-Like

Licensees must share the work alike the original work, they may NOT distribute the work under a more restricted license than the original work. Without the share-alike license, derivative works might be sublicensed with more restrictive license clauses, e.g. CC BY to CC BY-NC. by others.

Non-Commercial

Licensees may NOT use a license for commercial reasons but may copy, distribute, display, and perform the work and make derivative works and remixes based on it only for non-commercial purposes only.

No Derivative Works

Licensees may ONLY use VERBATIM copies of a work. The work can be copied, distributed, displayed and performed only as a verbatim copy of the work, not as a derivative works and nor as a remix of the work.
