Online Library Orientation
Often instructors want their students to be familiar with the library and its resources but are not able to set aside class time to bring their students. In addition, many distance instructors have lamented the fact that it is difficult for them to introduce the library and its resources in a meaningful way.
In response, the library developed a Library Orientation InfoGuide, an online tool that allows students to learn about the library and its resources on their own. You have the option to activate a Blackboard quiz if you want to use the orientation as a class assignment.
A Second Session?
Consider scheduling a second hands-on research session for your students in the library.
This is most effective when scheduled soon after the library instruction session.
What can this do for your students?
• Guide them through a critical phase of the research process.
• Provide practical research assistance in a hands-on setting.
• Begin an ongoing conversation with library staff about their research.
